Minion Cupcake Toppers

Having a Minion party? These cupcake toppers are easier than they look!

What you need:

  • Fondant
  • Gel food coloring in Golden Yellow
  • Food safe black marker
  • Candy eyes
  • Silver cake dusting powder
  • Small artist brush (new or only used for food)
  • Water
  • Crisco
  • Toothpick
  • Circle cutters in various sizes (I had to get creative & used different lids from things – wash well before using & grease slightly with Crisco to prevent sticking)

First color at least half of your fondant yellow. Use a toothpick to add a small amount of gel coloring to the fondant. Then, on a clean surface greased with a bit of Crisco, knead the fondant well to incorporate the color evenly and soften the fondant. Leave some fondant white to make the goggles. (Note: keep unused fondant wrapped tightly in plastic wrap to prevent drying out.)

Roll out your yellow fondant to about 1/8-1/4″ thickness. Then cut out circles about the size of your cupcakes. Use Crisco on your surface & on the rolling pin to prevent sticking.

Using your brush, attach the candy eyes with a little bit of water brushed onto the back of each eye. Optional: Cut small circles of extra yellow fondant to use as eyelids, and sculpt small teeth out of a bit of white fondant. Attach these with a dab of water as well.

Using a food-safe marker, draw on details like hair, goggle straps, and mouths.

Roll out white fondant and cut circles for the goggles. Using your brush again, adhere these around each eye with a tiny bit of water brushed onto the back.

Pour out a small amount of silver cake dusting powder onto a plate or small bowl. Dip your brush into the water and mix it into the powder, to make a pasty paint. Brush the silver color onto the white fondant goggles, and let it dry.

At this point, they’re done & ready to use! Pop them on top of some cooled frosted cupcakes & let the party begin!
Thanks for stopping by 🙂
